Finally got the new Do Make Say Think album, Other Truths, in the mail yesterday. It’s an amazing feeling when you can listen to an album by one of your favorite bands for the first time and instantly love it, without having to “get used to the new sound,” even when it (like all of their albums) is a more-than-slight departure from the last one.
It’s also great to get an album on 180g vinyl, along with a complimentary CD copy, and poster. I’ve gotten several albums from their label, Constellation Records, simply because they are on that label, and they’ve never disappointed. Plus, when you buy albums directly from the label, you always get a card with a hand written, personalized note from one of the label’s founders, Don or Ian. That, and they only use local artists and production companies in Montreal to make high-quality pressings and recycled card-board sleeves.
Anyways, check them out. Especially Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra and Tra-La-La Band.
